Every program we run is built around one idea: that culture survives best when it’s shared, tasted, danced, and spoken aloud.
Held each year at the OSA (Odia Society of Americas) convention, our flagship competition invites families across North America to bring their traditional, fusion, and youth-made pithas to one shared table.
Explore the Pitha CompetitionThroughout the year, the foundation hosts workshops where Odia elders teach traditional cooking techniques, classical and folk dance forms, and the basics of spoken and written Odia — passing skills down directly rather than letting them fade with distance and time.
Workshops are designed for the whole family: a grandmother and grandchild can learn the same recipe side by side, often for the first time together.
Children growing up far from Odisha often experience their heritage in fragments — a festival here, a family recipe there. Our youth program stitches those fragments into something they can carry forward with pride.
Through the Youth category of the Pitha Competition, mentorship pairings with elders, and youth-led storytelling sessions, we give the next generation a hands-on, joyful relationship with Odia identity — not a lecture about it.
See the Youth CategoryBeyond our flagship competition, the foundation supports and co-hosts community gatherings around major Odia festivals — Nuakhai, Raja, Durga Puja, and Kumar Purnima among them — helping local Odia communities across North America celebrate together.
Celebrating the harvest with community feasts and traditional rituals, even far from Odisha’s fields.
Honoring the festival of womanhood and the arrival of monsoon with music, food, and gathering.
Supporting community pandals and celebrations that keep the rhythm of the Odia festival calendar alive abroad.
